With all due respect ...

There’s a reason why we bring a photographer with us on our business trips, just like there’s a reason why I write. I scribble some notes in a pocket notebook and fake like I’m a fly on the wall while someone else is shooting shot after shot and talking about images being washed out and conning someone into bouncing captured light off a big reflective disc and such. I don’t pretend to understand their world and they get good and bored with mine. But together, we work hand in hand.

When we were in the Philippines covering a story down in Davao a few days ago, we didn’t exactly start things out when we wanted to. It meant that, under new time constraints, we had, oh, under an hour to shoot the cover for the magazine. Sometimes it can take about a day, but we were flying out the following morning (and losing light, no less).

It meant we went to the busy corner across the street from the hotel in the middle of a windstorm and endured people yelling and staring slackjawed and trying to sell us knock-off watches while we did what we’d come to do. As for our photographer, he produced some pretty amazing results. (It remains to be seen if I’ll be able to match his kind of quality, but at least the bar's been set high.)

Where I’d see something along these lines ...

... he was able to see this.

See? Amazing. Everyone in that corner of the world is gonna look at Wenna like she’s some kind of movie star when that issue of GO is released. They’re going to ask for autographs. (And, Wenna, if you’re reading, you best prepare yourself now. I’ll go ahead and predict the future: It’s going to happen.)

If you feel like checking out Marc’s stuff, you can visit him HERE or, if you’re in the Los Angeles area, go ahead and hire him to do your headshot. He’s good. Real good. I think we’re lucky to have found him when we did.

Yikes!!!!!!!!!! Dainon, you posted my photo! And the windstorm really did its part... :(

Yup, I've seen Marc's website. His works are amazing! I actually told my ninang to try to find Marc in LA, and hire him for a headshot... cause they'll be at California for a week starting Thursday.

My hair's a bit behaved in our photo by the lobby. ;) Hehe...

It was an experience, guys. Brooks really meant it when he said "We'd shoot around town", huh? :) But I wasn't expecting we'd shoot late in the afternoon, with all the people out in the streets, from school and work! :D I can still imagine the stares.....
