Celebrate Cinco de Mustache!

I want to make the blog-reading community aware of a very important holiday that is presently in full swing, even Cinco de Moustache. I'm not really certain how many years it's been going on, and this is just my second year as a participant, but it was created by one prolific Clint Dalton. He felt that Cinco de Mayo wasn't much of holiday, but, when celebrated with hairy upper lips, it became something else. Yea, it became worthy.

Everyone can participate by growing out their mustaches during the month of April through May 5. On that day—or maybe even May 4 this year—we'll be going out for Mexican eats sometime around noon. Come and join us. There may even be tight 70s suits involved this time around. So far, we've created a blog as encouragement to the less hairy among us, but also to track our progress and pump one another up. It scares some ladies in the office so much that they plan to boycott the workday on the very day we celebrate our manliness. If you were here today, you'd see seven brave men sporting either questionable-looking goatees or beards in attempt to celebrate the right way. One of them may even lose his wife in the process, but if that's what it takes, he's willing to let her go. This is serious business, people. We're not messing around. Band of brothers, man.

Here's some inspirational quotes to help get you started on the path to glory and honor:

"If at first you don't succeed, well, hit puberty already."

"100% of the mustaches you don't grow don't get admired."

"Whatever the upper lip can conceive and believe, the handlebar mustache can achieve."

"In the End, we will remember not our bare-faced enemies, but the mustaches on our friends."

"Whether you think that you can grow one, or that you can't, you are usually right."

Moustache, in Spanish, bigote
is disputably linked to the English word bigot (but it's disputed).

Whereas the Spanish "hombre de bigote" literally translates as moustached man and also "man of spirit".

So it's either that or the bigot thing. Take your pick.

I used to throw amazing cinco de mayo parties, complete with piƱata. They would have been even better with an hombre de bigote competition.

Women are welcome to grow out their mustaches as well. No waxing until May 5! Bushy lips know no gender bounds.
