Tonight, I will fall in love.

People fall in love every day, right? Well, tonight I plan to offer myself to Regina Spektor (if she'll have me). I hope she knows that I really did want to sleep on the sidewalk and await her arrival, but my bed called out to me and won. Still. Tonight, I will listen to her sweet, sweet songs and try not to look all wistful and such when she sings "Samson" or covers "Hallelujah". I don't make any promises, however. I've been waiting for this concert for what seems like months now. And I'm very, very happy to be attending. As it's a sold out show, I'm sure I'll run into one or two of you there, eh? Do me a favor and try not to laugh and me and my weak knees. And, for that, I thank you in advance.

UPDATED: Totally fell in love, as expected. One fast 80 minutes or so of her timeless singing, crazy off-kilter lyrics, beatboxing (!), guitar playing, one-handed chair drumming, piano playing and telling the crowd repeatedly to shut the eff up. I can't say I swoon often, but I did tonight. And I'd do it again, too. Times ten. It was a combination of all of those things, but that smile. Talk about your radiance. I could feel it where I was, clear over by the rafters. Sigh.

No way! I've always thought of recommending her to you but figured you wouldn't like her. AND I'm going to the concert tonight too! AND I'm going to fall in love with her too! Win-win-win!

I agree. With all of it. Have a total girl crush on Regina, and so glad that I made it there. It seemed the universe was against me seeing her that evening, but in the end: I won, the universe lost.

She was here on Halloween night- I almost went but didn't want to compete with her in my costume, so I went somewhere where superheros were more readily accepted.

saw her in CA--twice in a week. first at the bridge school benefit where she kicked off an eclectic line-up that also included my morning jacket, tom waits (!! who is amazing), jerry lee lewis, and of course neil young. and again on halloween. her voice is incredible. and such an engaging performer.

glad you had the chance to fall in love...

Tom Waits is one of the top 3 musicians I need to see perform while I still can.
