Sometimes it feels like I don't have a partner.

When you hear about one of your friends getting engaged, it's like catching wind of a private party that you didn't get invited to. That, or the mailman lost your invite in the mail. When several friends are getting engaged in rapid succession, your outlook changes somewhat: either it's almost Spring and it's inevitable ... or that same misguided mailman keeps dropping your invitation in the wrong box. You feel like calling the post office, to make certain things are in order (or to have someone canned).

For those reasons alone, it's not so wrong to feel at least partially sad for being excluded. It's only natural.

It's inevitable. The mailman has GOT to get canned.

I know this exactly... My 4 college roommates were married within a year of each other, and although I'm happy for each of them, I feel occasionally like I missed out on a few big life memos.
