Maybe the sun will shine today.

I swear I'm not a lyrics guy, but I find myself caught up on them now and again. Today—and, honestly, for the past few days—it's been all Wilco's doing. Driving across the flat, barely-there scenery of Nevada this weekend (and particularly the Vegas to Laughlin stretch), Sky Blue Sky was played a couple of times. Pretty much a necessity. And, each time, this song stood out to me ... either it was the beautiful simplicity of the lyrics (the ones that could almost be lifted from a self-help manual) or the fact it so very gently kicks the album off ... but there are some real truths to glean from what Jeff Tweedy is sharing, provided you are willing to take them to heart. And, well, the band is That Good. There's a reason I'm driving four hours to Grand Junction, CO to see the boys perform in May. If they can't get to me, I'll go to them. Few bands have enlightened me like Wilco has in concert and, well, I crave it, all over again.

Either Way lyrics

Maybe the sun will shine today
The clouds will blow away
Maybe I won’t feel so afraid
I will try to understand
Either way

Maybe you still love me
Maybe you don’t
Either you will or you won’t
Maybe you just need some time alone
I will try to understand
Everything has its plan
Either way
I’m gonna stay
Right for you

Maybe the sun will shine today
The clouds will roll away
Maybe I won’t be so afraid
I will understand everything has its plan
Either way

Great desert cruisin' tune ‘bout life and expanding! Surrendering to what will be with a peaceful heart...that place void of anxiety/fear where hope can grow, free from expectations. Maybe you agree or you don't...either way.

I've been going back to that album and listening to it quite a bit the past two weeks. "Impossible Germany" still blows me away, but "Either Way" is amazing in its own right, from the beginning guitar chords which echo "blowin' in the wind" from Dylan to the simple truths of the lyrics. Its a winner, and has been a go-to song lately for me too.
