May Day.

Today didn't feel much like the first day of May. It felt like more of a practical joke. From the snow on the field this early morning to the out-of-place flurries seen throughout the afternoon to the cough of a sunrise that happened towards daylight's end, it was the least Springy day I can remember. Still, I took great joy in changing everybody's calendars to a new day before everybody arrived. I believe in the future ... and I know that future includes a swimming pool that officially "opens" to the residents of my building come Memorial Day weekend. It's always warm by then, sometimes before even. I long and pine and pray for the sun then. I don't complain about the mixed-up Mother Nature. I just wait and watch and sometimes wear flipflops when it's still a little too nippy outside to do so.

May Day
by Phillis Levin

I've decided to waste my life again,
Like I used to: get drunk on
The light in the leaves, find a wall
Against which something can happen,

Whatever may have happened
Long ago—let a bullet hole echoing
The will of an executioner, a crevice
In which a love note was hidden,

Be a cell where a struggling tendril
Utters a few spare syllables at dawn.
I've decided to waste my life
In a new way, to forget whoever

Touched a hair on my head, because
It doesn't matter what came to pass,
Only that it passed, because we repeat
Ourselves, we repeat ourselves.

I've decided to walk a long way
Out of the way, to allow something
Dreaded to waken for no good reason,
Let it go without saying,

Let it go as it will to the place
It will go without saying: a wall
Against which a body was pressed
For no good reason, other than this.

Might I suggest toe socks. You can get them at REI and they come in several fashionable colors.(I like the purple) They make spring flip flop wearing a pleasure......... and they only creep some people out.

I must admit, I am one of those people creeped out by toe socks. But if they work for you, mopowatuya.

I hear ya. And I may be a little creepy cause I also like it when boys paint their toenails.ha I don't think that just any one could pull this look off. I have however seen pictures of Dainons foot.(it's lovely by the way) I think if some one could..... maybe him...... maybe.
