Capitol Reef.

Went to Capitol Reef National Park just over a week ago, but it already feels like I should be doing it again ... if not there, somewhere. It was the camping trip to begin a string of them this summer, I think, and it went well. Did 14 miles of desert mountain hiking in a day-and-half. Saw a crazy amount of stars and almost as many satellites and remembered what life beyond the city lights looks like. Laughed like crazy people and made others camping near us cranky. Ate grilled brats and candy, as well as the best salad you could ever ask for from a roadside cafe. Chased hundreds of lizards, pointed out bumblebee bugs. Slept little, drove a lot. There will be more of this. Lots more. Sat in the sun for maybe a little too long yesterday, but today I wear my sunburn like a badge of honor, I really do.

Thank you, Summer. In case there was any misconception, know this: I like you a lot.

Capitol Reef is my favorite Park in all of Utah. I'm glad you had a chance to go. It's really quite beautiful. less crowded. and certainly magical. Viva la summer.
