Tired of Being Alone.

When Al Green wrote this song, I can't help but wonder some of the following questions, things like, well, was he actually alone when he was writing it or did he have to do that whole thinking outside the box thing to get to his lonely place? I mean, talk about your yearning and your naked emotion ... few songs communicate the feeling of what they're saying as much as this one so earnestly does. Another question. Once it became a hit, did he have to be alone for very long past that point or did he lose the privilege? Has he never been able to be alone again? Maybe he wants to be alone now? Maybe he's not so tired of it any longer? I've been thinking of this song lately because Al is going to be in town on Wednesday, singing his heart out over yonder at Red Butte. I probably won't pony up the cash to go, either, but I still love his music. You ever get the feeling that, even if you're tired of being alone on occasion, that you might always be? And, even if that does happen, that it might not be all that depressing of a possibility? Or am I alone in my thinking here? I gotta say, if I do end up that way, and even if I am able to come to terms with that whole loneliness thing, I don't believe I'll ever be able to stop sharing things with others, whether it's new music or zucchini brownies. And, in that sense, I won't be alone. Not entirely.

Um, I love Al Green's music too, and his new album. Good stuff.

Maybe sharing is one action that distinguishes between experiencing solitude in the moments when we find ourselves alone from feeling lonely when no one is around...just a thought.

I think you can get to a place where you are really comfortable with the me, myself, and I. I want to be ok with that. I know people who can't stand to be alone. I always tend to think they are hiding from their own thoughts. I was married when I was the loneliest...... interesting stuff to ponder. Also, any strong emotion can be such a creative force. Even in the most blah times I can always at least appreciate that.

yeah i'm pretty much tired of it. alone can be fun and easy and envy-inducing to your friends who hooked up too early but in the end, it's really nice to wake up to a face you like waking up to. you know?

Stephen Crane wrote: "God is alone. But the devil he is legion."

Think about that for a moment...
