Postcard city.

For those keeping track, Bangkok is over and done with and Borneo is the new ... Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, to be exact. I can see the calm ocean from my balcony and, better yet, I can walk right over to the coast in under two minutes' time. And, if I decided to really shake things up and run, I'd get there in 30 seconds, easy. We're practically straddling the equator in these parts, which means a 3-mile run + a light weightlifting routine in the early morning will mean you won't stop sweating for the next, oh, few hours at least. That's how things work in the tropics. Wear your swimsuit everywhere and live in the pool for as long as you can stand it. Yes, this is how I earn my daily bread. At least for now.

Also of note is that, well, every photo I take of the ocean ends up looking like a Wish You Were Here postcard, I kid you not. The blue water is the warmest ocean stuff I've ever set my big American feet in and I have this urge to go running across the soft, incredibly fine sand one of these impossibly pretty mornings.

But, hold up a tick ... does all of this come across as bragging? I really hope it doesn't. I just look around and my heart leaps, almost right out of my chest. I expect it to lurch itself right out of my mouth. My whole chest cavity just swells right up in split seconds. I am lucky to be here, yes, and I want to share these thoughts and sights the best I can. Being a wordsmith of sorts, it's good practice. In short, I am amazed by all I am seeing ... and I'm fairly certain it will not get old for me, not after the several days I am here soaking it all in. For now, this is some kinda paradise. Right here.

Drawback? There are mosquitoes in my room. My kingdom for a fly swatter, honestly.

I'm so glad you get to see the world and that you love it the way I do.

I'm in love with this ol' world, that's for certain. If you're going to choose one woman to fall for, why not make it Mother Nature, am I right?
